If you’re like me, you’re absolutely sick of hearing about Joe the Plumber, especially now that he’s joined John McCain on the campaign trail. This guy, whose real name is Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, is not a licensed plumber. While questioning Obama, “Joe” stated that he was about to buy a $250,000 plumbing business; however, he failed to mention that he currently only makes around $40,000 per year. Unless he were to take out a large business loan, which would be improbable in this economic climate, I doubt he has a chance of doing or being anything he claimed. Add to all this that “Joe” has had a judgment lien filed against him in the amount of $1,812 for taxes he failed to file. “Joe” is a liar. I guess that it’s appropriate that he is now palling around with McCain.
“Joe” does not represent an honest, licensed, small business owning, working-class American. If anyone says they can relate to Joe the Plumber, you really need to question their intellect and their intregity. He is simply a piece of a strategy used by a losing campaign. Every action and reaction by the McCain-Palin camp lately is another desperate act by people grasping at whatever they have left of a failed political career.
Now, why is “Joe” being used as a strategy? It has to do with McCain’s inaccurate depiction of Obama’s proposed tax policy. Like many things coming from McCain-Palin, they’re failing to provide the truth. Obama has stated repeatedly that small businesses, like “Joe” since he would likely start out making well under $200,000, would receive a 50% tax credit, which could be used for health care costs. And if “Joe” somehow came up with the money to buy a larger company, the company’s taxes would go back to what they were at during the Clinton era.
Finally, what “Joe” is failing to realize, and what McCain is failing to acknowledge is the fact that, under Obama’s plan, Joe would be taxed less, could save up more, and borrow less if he were ever able to buy a business. Of course, since “Joe” brought up his fear of Obama bringing us closer to socialism, it became readily apparent, especially seeing him out on the campaign trail now, that he never had any intention of voting for Obama. Never mind the fact that Palin already has a history of sharing the wealth with the people of Alaska.
A McCain supporter in the primary. A registered Republican. An unlicensed plumber. A tax dodger. A liar. Supposedly, he might be a candidate for the United States House of Representatives (Ohio’s 9th Congressional District) in 2010. Please say it ain’t so Joe!
