Ten Signs You’re a Father

Fathers Day is coming up, my second, so I’ve put together a list of things that remind you that you’re a dad… And, yes, these are from personal experience, not another recycled “you know you’re a dad when…” list.

  1. You find that a pacifier in your pocket when you get to work
  2. You get the theme song to Wonder Pets stuck in your head
  3. You have no problem discussing your child’s bodily functions
  4. You buy furniture, not based on looks, but stain resistance
  5. Your clean black shirt isn’t clean (and you don’t care)
  6. You can’t find a suitable place, anywhere, for your dart board
  7. You somehow “lose” every show recorded on your DVR
  8. You plan your day around naps and bed time (yours too)
  9. Your cupboards now have bottles and cups vs. pint glasses
  10. You’re still singing, “wonder pets, wonder pets, we’re on our way…”

    Nice signs. But they are good signs. In fact you are not far from the truth. To me it was a little different. But the idea is that you cease to think just for yourself. You begin to think first to the little one.

    This was a funny little list, I think of all of them my favorite number was 6, I bet there is no proper place for that dart board lol. What is this wonder pets craze? I haven’t quite heard of it. I guess that’s a good thing though, haha

    The dart board ended up out in the garage, but can’t be used since there’s always at least one car in there… :P

    Wonder Pets is a show on Noggin w/ a guinea pig, turtle & duckling that save other animals…

    I think your list is the list of a father with very young children, which I remember well as it was only a few years ago. But now instead of Wonder Pets I have High School Musical stuck in my head.

    lolz .. you know i laughed hilariously when i read the first line of your post: You find that a pacifier in your pocket when you get to work; coz when my first baby was just two months old, it happened many times that a pacifier came out of my pockets while looking for a lighter … ha ha kids are great!!!!
