Great News on AB 178

Posted by: drivelocity In: On The Web

It looks like the hearing for AB 178 has been postponed until January 2010. There are various reasons for this, but I suspect that it’s because it didn’t have enough votes to pass, so the bill’s author, Nancy Skinner, opted to postpone it and fight another day, rather than let the bill fail. Hopefully, the [...]

The Joys of Twittering

Posted by: drivelocity In: Blogging

I’ve voiced my opinion of Twitter and how I’m sure nobody cares that it’s an hour before lunch, I’m starving and I have no idea what I have to eat at home. But, with a new current events based project I’m working on, Twitter seems to be a good match.
Here are some tools I’ve found [...]

Too Many Calendars!

Posted by: drivelocity In: At Work

I just received an email from someone in my office that basically instructs us to update a shared Outlook calendar, which is fine and dandy. But, if we schedule something during the current month, we’re also supposed to pencil it in on the printed version of said calendar. This now makes five calendars I need [...]

Gravatar Problem Fix

Posted by: drivelocity In: Blogging

While I had the option set to display the Mystery Man for people who aren’t registered on Gravatar.com, it never displayed correctly on drivelocity.com. Rather than showing whatever I had selected, the Gravatar logo would be displayed. There is an issue with WordPress themes and the code used to display gravatars that have left many [...]

Dipping My Toe in the Twitter Pool

Posted by: drivelocity In: On The Web

I’ve decided to get my feet wet with Twitter after months and months questioning the appeal. I think; however, that it may be a good fit with a new project I’m working on and I’m looking into it a little more. So far I’ve only created the account, placed links, followed some people and got [...]

Coffee & I Are Reunited!

Posted by: drivelocity In: Home Life

It’s been just over a week since my oral surgery and I just had my first cup of morning Joe since then. I can eat, for the most part, normal food again too. But right now, waking up, getting into my morning routine, I’m happiest about the caffeinated part. Due to the surger and sutures, [...]

Automatic Links

Posted by: drivelocity In: Blogging

As you may know, when people post URLs in comments, WordPress automatically appends anchor tags and makes them clickable. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, this is not an option for URLs posted in posts and on pages. I ran into this problem when working on another blog and posting several pages of URLs. I didn’t want [...]

Digg As a Search Engine?

Posted by: drivelocity In: Blogging

I thought this was interesting… I was browsing through some stats using Awstats and found Digg.com listed right there along with Google under Search Engines. However, Reddit.com is listed under non-search engine pages…
Links from an Internet Search Engine
- Digg (Social Bookmark)
Links from an external page (other web sites except search engines)
What’s helpful about Reddit [...]

FoxNewsBoycott.com

Posted by: drivelocity In: On The Web

I think this is a great idea… I can’t stand how biased Fox News is and would love to stick it to ‘em. I understand that shows on other networks, i.e. Countown with Keith Olbermann and the Rachel Maddow Show are biased as well, but they seem to back up everything they state with sources [...]
